Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi) is a story about a high-school freshman, Suzumiya Haruhi, and those who are caught up in her antics. On the first day of school, she introduced herself in a bizarre way.
“From East Middle School, Suzumiya Haruhi. I have no interest in ordinary humans. If there are any aliens, time travelers, sliders, or espers here.. come join me. That is all!”
Her classmates wondered whether she was serious or just kidding around. Kyon, a fellow freshman who sits in front of Haruhi, was interested in her because of her strange introduction. Little by little, he tried to talk to her, but Haruhi's answers would always be "Shut up!" "Moron!" "Be quiet!" "Who cares about that!?". However, as the days went by, Kyon becomes the first ever to talk normally with Haruhi and eventually inspired her to form the SOS Brigade which sole purpose is to find aliens, time travelers and espers, and have fun with them.

Other Infomration:
The series starts out with "Episode 00 Mikuru Asahina's Adventure" as episode 1. This is not the opening to the series, but rather the opening to an anime made by the main actors. The whole first episode of is an anime within an anime. It also introduces several of the actors of the series who happen to be playing in this anime, with the sole exception of the series' namesake herself, Haruhi Suzumiya. Haruhi is the director and does not appear in her anime.Anime Information Sources:

chronological order to watch the anime is
2, 3, 5, 10, 13, 14, 4, 7, 6, 8, 1, 12, 11, 9.

yea. better read the chronological order before starting to watch this anime guys. i guarantee you, it’s one of the best and will make your jaw freeze because of laughter.
It doesn’t matter. I prefer watching without the chronological order since when it was made like this, its probably better without the order. And the ending suits it
well u can watch it chronologicaly, but the problem is when u watch ep 6, is the end, so the other chapters dont help in the history
Very complicated anime… can’t you just watch it like a normal series?
not your usual anime…
it does makes more sense when you watch it in chronologcal order…
unfortunately episode 9 was not that much of an ending.
>.< Lord blast me down, that was an annoying ending, blergian
veryy good but weird!!
haruhi suzumiyia is sexy as hell
and she almost is animated like Aya Hirano
This anime = <3
The anime itself is good. The way that it is ordered. I didn’t watched it chronologicaly but I can still cope with the story. And also, I wonder if our world really is controlled by Haruhi. I can see her image everywhere. Could this mean? OBLIVION!? hehehe. Kidding. But Overall, this anime is one of the tops. dadadadada~~. What else?
Ah! It’s one of the best and I did not regret watching this anime. But the biggest question that still lurks in my mind is Asahina-san’s real age.
Ja ne! ^__^;;
…i personally hated this. 2/5 took me awhile just to finish it because it was so boring.
best anime ever!!! cant think y any1 would nt think dis anime is great!!! its simply one of d best!!!! :3
This is one of the best anime ever. It is short and sweet and I never got bored.
I like watching it the according to the episode number since it makes it more interesting and my mental capacity can handle it. Also, I noticed that during the episode previews, Haruhi’s numbering is actually the chronological one.
I wish there were more episodes though. I’d like to get to know more about the characters specially Yuki. =^_^=
is it like lucky star??
awesome series.
about the order to watch it in?
i liked watching it in “the correct” order… but i would have prefered the order its in. because ep 14 really is the closing episode. and it feels far more like a closing….
so i recomend! watch the entire episodes like this:
2, 3, 5, 10, 13 , 4, 7, 6, 8, 1, 12, 11, 9. and then watch 14 last… trust me!
P W A R R! i cant wait ’till the new season is out. **^__________^**
This show confuses me :S
One big reason I liked this show was the way the the original order (Kyon’s order) revealed the story in a non-chronological way and even broke up 2-episode storylines. It’s like creating a portrait by painting random parts of it at a time, so that the whole picture only comes into focus at the very end. Until then your mind tries to make sense of the portion that’s painted so far — first fitting one pattern, then another in order to make sense of it. I love the “what kind of show am I watching?” feeling and this show prolonged it in a really fun way.
what’s the damn order? this one said that and this one that???? make up your minds
Both storylines are correct. Have you ever seen ‘The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’? The storyline of that movie is similar to how this anime is set up. However, as described above, this way allows for a ‘picture’ to be painted out of the order, creating a very beautiful and elegant execution of the story. And, because of the time line jumps in the anime, one is forced to watch it again, just to catch everything and really appreciate what’s going on. So, watch it both ways. Personally, having never seen it before, the non-chronological method worked perfectly fine for me. And, it is a simply stunning anime, with both it’s message, execution, and hilarity.
i’m thinking that the order of episodes are suppose to portray different perspectives, honestly i could play with the order and still be satisfied with what i watched. for future audiences, try watching it in the default order (Kyon’s order) and then watch it in Haruhi order. This order is definitely not in chronological order but it is very easy to understand. 2, 3, 5, 10, 13 , 4, 7, 6, 8, 1, 12, 11, 9, and 14 last. This episode was already stated above by Beridon. As for my review for this series, it’s cute ;p.
11, 1, 2, 7, 3, 9, 8, 10, 14, 4, 13, 12, 5, 6 <<<< That should work too
Interesting indeed…. I believe Kyon kun was most amusing in this story. hahaha! Asahina is really cute. Her personality is really attractive. This anime is really great! Keep making great animes please! Hurry!
don’t worry. you shouldn’t dwell over this. i mean, if she loves you, she’ll come back eventually. if she doesn’t then you guys are just not meant to be. (lol) What am i talking about ? >.>
