Description
Saiunkoku is a world of eight provinces or houses, each named after a different colour. The new Emperor, Shi Ryuuki, has gained for a reputation for being uninterested in courtly matters and for flaunting his love for men. Shuurei, although born of the important Kou family, has difficulty making ends meet. She easily accepts an invitation to be the Emperor's concubine in order to turn him into a good ruler. The mysterious Seiran, a young man who was adopted by her father, goes with her as Ryuuki's bodyguard. Entering the imperial palace revives Shuurei's dream of being a court official, and, together with the many companions she meets along the way, continues moving bravely forward while trying to fend off the Emperor's advances.

I just started watching this series. I am on the 10th episode right now. It’s great so far, I like the Chinese Imperial Palace background. I give it a 4 stars, the art work are great especially the guys haha. I would consider it an anime for girls you know, look at all the cool looking guys characters.
This series also reminds me of Fushigi Yuugi but this one has less super power and more politics. So the story might not be as interesting as FY if you watched both.
The one thing I don’t like about these anime for girls is that it always about a story of bunch of guys revolve around one or two girls. That kind of storyline sickens me sometimes, I have take a star off it.
The music is not that outstanding, usually the background music and OP/ED plays a role in the anime impression in my case.

I just watched the first eposide and I enjoyed it very much I give it 4 stares for now.
I like this anime very much!^^ Reminds me of Fushigi Yuugi especially Hotohori.XD
Too bad there are a lot of mistakes in the uploading of the episodes though..=p
good anime! i like shurei a lot. she’s really not the typical careless-girl-whose-main-goal-is-to-search-for-true-love type of heroine. this is one of those animes which makes me watch until the very last episode. 5 stars!
